Today’s prosthetic dentistry provides various treatment options to replace missing teeth. Dr. Recksiedler, Dr. Pun or Dr. Gulbransen (Retired) are top San Diego prosthodontists, renowned for providing quality, affordable complete dentures, partial dentures, overdentures and custom premium dentures, as well as same day laboratory denture repairs and denture relines. They are both residency trained prosthodontists. Most importantly, prosthodontists are trained to offer you all of your restorative options. Every patient is unique—there is no cookie-cutter solution. Prosthodontists specialize in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Treatment can range from replacing a single tooth, multiple teeth or all of the teeth in the mouth. Prosthodontists are the architects of your smile and often the ‘quarterbacks’ of your dental treatment plan, coordinating with your general dentist and other specialists to achieve optimal outcomes for your unique dental needs.
What makes our prosthodontic office so special?
Our practice enjoys a fully-equipped prosthetic dental laboratory on premises, staffed with two full-time, experienced dental laboratory technicians. This ensures complete control and timely delivery of superior quality customized crowns, bridges, dental implant restorations, dentures and facial prostheses. We have the ability on site to accomplish all phases of complete denture fabrication, most implant supported restorations and cast precious metal crowns and bridges. A custom milling machine is available for the fabrication of high-end implant supported restorations.
Full or Complete Dentures
A complete denture, also known as a full denture, is a replacement or prosthetic device for patients missing an entire set of upper or lower teeth. This appliance replaces natural teeth and offers support for the cheeks and lips. The teeth are made of a high strength, highly esthetic dental plastic, and are held together by an acrylic base, usually gum colored, that either covers the roof of the mouth or is shaped like a horseshoe, leaving room for the tongue.
Our immediate dentures can be fabricated and inserted after the teeth have been extracted, before the tissues have healed. We are also able to attach complete dentures to dental implants for a more secure fit of the device.
Your dentures are an investment and require care and attention to maintain their optimum performance. The fit of your dentures will have a profound effect on your oral tissues and health. An annual examination by Drs. Recksiedler, Pun or Gulbransen (Retired) will help ensure your denture is functioning properly.
Partial Dentures
Partial Dentures are utilized to replace a few missing teeth, when cost or the oral condition does not allow for a fixed bridge or implants. We design your partial denture according to your unique needs, so no two partials are the same. Partial dentures are created out of a metal and acrylic composition or completely out of acrylic. A patient’s specific needs and anatomy dictate the design of the partial denture. Drs. Recksiedler and Gulbransen will consult with you to determine the appropriate partial or partials for your situation. We will work closely with you to make sure your new dentures fit well and allow you to eat what you want and get back to your normal life.
Denture Relines
New dentures will typically fit your mouth very securely as it has been designed specifically for your gums. As time goes on, your gum tissues will change and the fit of the denture will become looser and more prone to movement inside your mouth. Having the denture professionally relined every one to two years will keep the denture secure and functional.
All full dentures should have a hard reline every two years. San Diego Prosthodontics removes a layer of plastic from the denture’s interior surface, and then fills the denture with a putty-like material which conforms to the contours of your mouth creating an accurate impression. The denture is sent to our on-site fully-equipped dental lab where it is processed to the new shape of your gum tissue. This results in maximum contact between the denture and your mouth.
Denture Price Points
Since dentures allow you to eat the foods you love and to smile with confidence, the cost of not being able to speak and laugh is hard to measure. For years, we at San Diego Prosthodontics have put a high value on caring for patients and restoring their smiles with custom dentures.
Every patient’s situation is one-of-a-kind which is why we begin with a consultation where we present all possible costs upfront and help you understand your insurance benefits
